Community Engagement Task Force Economic Sub-Group

Chaired by the Director of Research & Innovation Services, this group looks at what the University is doing: 

  • To increase awareness of its impact on and contribution to the local economy 
  • To engage with residents and key external stakeholders to identify and act on opportunities to enhance its impact 
  • To share information on services such Procurement and Catering, and on approaches to topics such as graduate retention and student enterprise 
  • In its collaborations on matters such as the Regional Industrial Strategy and post-covid economic recovery 
  • In its growing Memorandum of Understanding with Durham County Council.

  • Post-covid economic recovery in the City and wider region 
  • The University’s Social Value programme 
  • Projects such as the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI), NETPark and the work of the Durham City Incubator, and the development of the Venture North investment fund.
