University and City

Durham University is an active member of many groups across Durham City supporting a variety of work covering areas such as student housing, student safety, sustainable living, positive community relations and collaborative problem solving.

On these pages you can find information about the two groups we convene:

Partnership Working

We work in partnership with teams across Durham County Council, Durham Constabulary and Durham Students Union, and with members of the City of Durham Parish Council, county councillors, local residents and community groups.

Our work with partners helps support city events and initiatives such as the annual Green Move Out, student welcome and orientation week, end-of-term events and the Durham City Safety Hub.

City of Durham Parish Council

A body of 15 elected Parish Councillors representing the wards of Elvet and Gilesgate, Durham South and Nevilles Cross where many of our students live.
