Jens Hentschke

Jens Hentschke is Professor of Latin American History and Politics in the School of Modern Languages at Newcastle University. His research focuses on the political, social, and intellectual history of Latin America in the 'long nineteenth century', with a focus on Brazil and the Southern Cone countries, and particular interests in economic modernisation, state formation, and nation-building; history of education at primary and normal school levels; and the differential impact of liberalism, positivism, and Krausism.
