A note on software licences

It is very important that all software used within the University (and indeed on your home systems) is used in accordance with licence conditions associated with the software package. If you are uncertain, then please contact the IT Service Desk for advice.

CIS is responsible for the licencing of all the software it installs on the services it operates. Other sections of the University are responsible for the licencing of software items installed on their systems. Individuals are responsible for the licencing of software installed on their own (private) systems. Software licenced by CIS cannot be used on systems operated by other sections of the University unless the licence CIS has obtained explicitly allow this. Permission to use the licence will be recorded by CIS for audit purposes. Please stay legal!
