Celebration Events

A number of celebration events for graduates and guests will be held across the University during Congregation, some of which are listed below. Please contact your department or college for further information.


College Events

Hatfield College

Hatfield are hosting dinners for graduands and their families on the evenings of Tuesday 27, Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 June in the College Dining Hall, 6.30 for 7.00pm. The cost is £25 per person including a drink on arrival. The dress code is lounge suit.

John Snow College

John Snow will be hosting drinks receptions for graduands and their families following their congregation ceremony in the Pemberton Room, Alms House on Palace Green at the following times:

Wednesday 28 June - Psychology 3pm, Education 5pm

Thursday 29 June - Business and Marketing 3pm, Accounting and Finance 5pm

Friday 30 June - Medicine and Pharmacy 5pm

Final year students may also register to attend the graduation dinner being held at the Radisson Hotel. Places are limited so please contact Rosa Sparks at r.m.sparks@durham.ac.uk for further details.

Josephine Butler College

Josephine Butler are holding celebration nights on Tuesday 27 and Thursday 29 June at 6.30pm for graduands and their families. There will be a 2 course hot buffet with a sparkling wine reception and musical accompaniment. This event is free for graduands and £27.50 per person for guests with smart casual dress code. St Aidan's College

St Aidan's will be hosting graduation lunches throughout congregation week (Tuesday 27 - Friday 30 June) between 12 noon and 2pm. There will be a 2 course hot buffet with sparkling drinks reception on arrival. Places are limited to 180 for each event and allocated on first-come, first-served basis. All graudands have been emailed the booking form but if you need further information, please contact Emma Wilson

St Cuthbert's Society

St Cuthbert's are hosting a number of events during the week of congregation. Celebration lunches will be held Tuesday 27 - Friday 30 June, 12noon - 2pm, free for graduands and £13.50 per person for guests. Celebration drinks receptions will be held on Tuesday 27, Thursday 29 and Friday 30 June, 5.30 - 7.00pm, graduands plus 2 guests is complimentary with a charge of £3.75 per additional guest. There will also be a family formal on Wednesday 28 June from 7pm, graduands are complimentary and guests are £25 per person. For further information please contact cuthberts.reception@durham.ac.uk

St Mary's College

St Mary's are hosting graduation drinks reception on Tuesday 27 June, 6pm - 7pm and Friday 30 June, 6pm - 7.30pm as well as graduation dinners on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th June, 7pm for 7.30pm. The cost for the dinner is £25.75 per person with formal dress code for all events - lounge suits and cocktail dresses. Trevelyan College

Trevelyan are hosting congregation dinners for graduands and their guests on Tuesday 27, Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 June. Drinks reception at 7pm in the College bar, followed by dinner at 7.30pm in the Dining Hall. Ustinov College

Van Mildert College

Van Mildert are hosting three congregation dinners on Tuesday 27, Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 June in Ann Dobson Hall, 6.30 for 7.15pm. Cost is £24 for graduands, £30 for guests and £15 for under 12s.

Department Events

Archaeology

Will be holding an informal wine reception for graduands and their guests on Tuesday 27 June from 1.00pm in the Common Room, Dawson Building. The department photographer will be taking a Level 3 photograph (weather permitting) around 1.30 / 2.00pm

Business School

DUBS graduands and their guests are invited to afternoon tea from 1pm until 3.30pm at Mill Hill Lane on Thursday 29 June. The afternoon will include a short awards ceremony. The event is strictly pre-book only before Friday 16 June. A shuttle bus will run between Mill Hill Lane to the DSU throughout the day from 8.30am - 4pm. Earth Sciences

Graduands and their guests are invited to attend a Celebration event on Tuesday 27 June from 3pm in ES228/229 (TR1/2). There will be wine and nibbles plus prizes.

English Studies

Graduands and their guests are invited to a drinks reception in St Chad's Quad on Thursday 29 June between 3.30pm and 5pm.

Geography

History

Are holding a drinks reception in St Chads College at 3pm on Tuesday 27 June for all History graduands and their guests. Drinks and nibbles will be provided.

Mathematical Sciences

Will be hosting a celebration event in St Chad's College on Thursday 27 June 4pm - 5pm. Drinks and nibbles will be provided for graduands and their guests.

Music

Are hosting a drinks reception for Music graduands and their guests in St Chads Quad from 10am - 12.30pm on Thursday 29 June.

Natural Sciences

Are holding a celebration event in the Quad at St Chad's College on the Bailey for graduands and their guests on Friday 30 June from 10.30am. There will be drinks, a selection of canapes and a prize giving ceremony at 11.15am. Throughtout the afternoon a photographer will be taking pictures which will be posted on the departmental Facebook page.

School of Education

Are hosting a celebration on Wednesday 28 June from 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm in the DSU student's bar.

Theology and Religion

Are having a celebratary drinks reception following the congregation ceremony on Friday 30 June from 11.00am to 1.00pm in the Chapel at St Chad's College.
