Excavations at Tilaurakot end with our inaugural Heritage Festival

(1 March 2018)

The 2018 field season at tilaurakot came to a close at the end of February with the hosting of our first ever Heritage Festival.  The day long festival started at 10am in the morning and finished at 4.30pm with a public debriefing meeting which also officially concluded the field season.

At the festival, artefacts uncovered from recent excavations at Tilaurakot, including terracotta figurines, ceramics, beads and coins were displayed. Aiming to disseminate the results of recent research, a photographic exhibition also highlighted the current threats to local heritage sites from unchecked development. The exhibition also promoted positive initiatives by various stakeholders in favour of the protection and promotion of local heritage.
