CCLP Launch Event

We will hold an official launch event for the CCLP on Feb 27th (Wednesday) from 2pm to 5pm in room CG 85 (Chemistry).

This will be the first formal meeting of the CCLP, with the purpose of formally announcing the establishment of the centre, creating a membership list of staff and students, and discussing planned future activities including the 2019 Annual Conference of the European China Law Studies Association in Durham and the inaugural Durham Summer School for Chinese Law and Policy.

Professor Thom Brooks will deliver an Opening Speech at the launch event.

We will then kick things off with an inaugural lecture China’s World: What Does China Want? by Professor Kerry Brown, a distinguished academic on China studies, a widely sought-after commentator on China-related issues, and a former UK diplomat in China.

(Kerry Brown is Professor of Chinese Studies and Director of the Lau China Institute at King's College, London. He is an Associate of the Asia Pacific Programme at Chatham House (London), an adjunct of the Australia New Zealand School of Government in Melbourne, a committee member of the British Association of Chinese Studies, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He is also one of the British Council ‘Leading Lights' for Generation UK, promoting the study of China and Chinese in Britain.
