If you are thinking about applying to university, there is a lot of useful information available for Care Leavers and those with experience of Care. The below links are just a few of the sites that can offer information, advice and guidance regarding: researching courses, student finance, support packages and much more.

UCAS is a great place to start researching about university! They have information about courses, what support is available if you are a Care Leaver as well as video tutorials for the university application process. If you choose to apply to Durham or another university in the UK, you will need to submit an application via UCAS so it is worthwhile familiarising yourself with this website.

Student Finance can at times seem a tricky topic to master but there is a lot of guidance and support available. The Student Finance website provides a wealth of information and it enables you to get an estimate of your support through their interactive Student Finance Calculator. Buttle UK provide support for children, young people and Care Leavers and they have developed useful resources relating to support that is avaliable for students who are Care Leavers. Further information and guidance can be found here.

Become, (formerly 'The Who Cares? Trust') is an organsiaton who are a voice for children and young people in the UK who are in Care. They provide information on a range of ages and have some excellent guides for Care Leavers who are considering university. Their HE Handbook may be a useful place to start as this handbook contains information about the different support packages avaliable at each university. For further details, click here.
Care Leavers Association
The Care Leavers Association is charity run by Care leavers for Care Leavers. They provide a wide range of information which may be useful; especially their information regarding thinking about further and higher education which can be accessed here.
The Care Leavers Foundation
