The Psychology Technical team have also been quite busy making a puzzle box! For Apes! Our super researchers are looking at how bonobo apes cooperate and use communication to coordinate their cooperation.

The Psychology Technical team have also been quite busy making a puzzle box! For Apes! Our super researchers are looking at how bonobo apes cooperate and use communication to coordinate their cooperation. 

They needed some bespoke apparatus designed and built for the apes to use, so they asked, and we did!

For this puzzle box, the apes have to partner up to pull ropes together, at the same time, in order to receive a treat located inside the box - the treat hole only opens when they work together. Being very smart, it seems the bonobo apes worked this out straight away and are now queuing to have a go! Here’s some photos of the box and it on the lorry being sent to France.
