Undergraduate

Apply

All undergraduate applications to Durham University should be made through UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service).

Before you apply you should:

  • Research which course or courses you would like to study. All of our courses are shown on our Course Database. You can see whether a course is open by checking UCAS Course Search.
  • Decide whether you would like to state a college preference or submit an open application (where we allocate your college for you)
  • Check you can meet the entry requirements
  • Research tuition fees and living costs.

To begin your online application please go to UCAS Apply.

Deferred entry

If you wish to take a year out between school and university you should check your nominated department's policy on deferred entry (see each departmental entry or website).

Some departments welcome applications submitted during your last year at school, particularly if you are seeking to gain experience relevant to your degree. Others would prefer you to apply in the year between school and university.

Help with your application

We hope you find all the information you need here, but if you do have any further questions we will be pleased to help.

If you have course-related questions these should be directed to the Admissions Selector in the academic department in which you wish to study. For contact details please see our course database.

If you have any questions about how to apply or the application process at Durham University and you are from the UK or EU, these should be directed to the Student Recruitment and Admissions Office by email at admissions@durham.ac.uk or by calling +44 (0)191 334 6128.
