St Cuthbert's Society

Postgraduate Students

All postgraduate students at St Cuthbert's Society belong to the JCR, the student body of the college.

Within the JCR, the postgraduate community is represented by the Postgraduate and Mature Students Rep, who is responsible for making sure the views and concerns of postgraduate students are represented in the JCR. The Rep chairs the Postgraduate Committee, which meets at least twice a term to organise events, both academic and social, for the benefit of the whole postgraduate community.

All postgraduates are welcome to get involved in any area of Cuth's life by joining sports or societies, attending Formal Dinners, or taking part in social, careers and scholarly events.

In particular, the Postgraduate Committee organises Postgraduate Fora, events at which both postgraduates and SCR members give brief talks on their current research. Anyone from the wider Cuth's community is welcome to attend to hear their research and join in the discussion. Topics have included King Arthur, Molière, galaxy formation, Austrian novels, fellowship among knights and among hobbits, philosophy, and landslides.
