Biography

Personal Profile

I am currently Deputy Director (Student Success) overseeing DCAD’s student-facing provision which includes Pre-sessional programmes, Academic Development for Students provision, the MA TESOL and Applied Linguistics and the Foundation programmes. 

Prior to this, I led DCAD's Pre-sessional programmes which deliver intensive academic language and literacy preparation incoming international students each year. 

My teaching responsibilities include EAP in various contexts and MA modules in Global Englishes and Teaching English for Academic Purposes. I also supervise MA dissertations. 

I have significant experience as an external examiner on a range of EAP programmes, and in 2015, I was appointed as an assessor for the BALEAP Accreditation Scheme (BAS). I was awarded Senior Fellow of the HEA in 2016.

I have worked in English language teaching since 1998. I taught abroad for several years in Poland and Mexico, and since 2002, I have specialized in EAP (English for Academic Purposes) in UK Universities. I have an undergraduate degree in History from Warwick University and I completed my MA in Applied Linguistics at Durham University in 2004, and an MA in Educational Research Methods in 2016. I currently studying for an EdD with The Open University.
