Biography

Yuxin is a PhD candidate at Durham Law School. She completed her undergraduate degree in Law at Durham University. While studying for her LLM degree at University College London, she became one of the deputy editor-in-chiefs at China America Law Review in which she was able to publish articles on its official social media account and helped other editors copyedit articles. She started her PhD in medical law in October 2022.  

 

Yuxin has been acting as a co-convenor for Durham CELLS since October 2022, for which she helps organise events and writes posts for CELLS social media platforms. She is a tutor for the modules of EU Law and Introduction to English Law and Legal Method. In the academic year of 2022-2023, she was successfully elected as a PGR representative at Durham Law School as well as the President of the Senior Common Room (SCR) of St. Aidan’s College, for which she oversees activities organised for the SCR community. 

 

Current Research

Supervised by Professor Shaun Pattinson and Dr Samantha Halliday, her PhD research is exploring the criteria that Chinese law may impose on people who wish to access assisted reproductive technologies. This project will analyse the legal and cultural positions in China, the UK, the United States. The project will make use of different moral theories to advance its thesis and develop a regime which reflects societal values and resolves legal problems.
