Bedrooms available at Durham Castle
State Rooms
The magnifiicent State Rooms at Durham Castle are available as accommodation throughout the year.
Bishop's Suite
Situated in a part of the Castle built in the 13th century, the
Bishop's Suite has a sitting room overlooking the River Wear, the walls
of which are hung with 17th century tapestries.
Chaplains Suite
There is also the Chaplain's Suite comprising of two rooms, one with a
private bathroom. The rooms can be used separately or as a family room
with an interconnecting door.
Other En Suite Rooms
The Gatehouse
Twin Bedded rooms in a Medieval Gatehouse with en-suite facilities, some with views of the Castle Courtyard, gardens and Cathedral.
The Fellows' Gardens Rooms
Recently built in traditional style, the Fellows' Gardens Building contains en-suite rooms.
The Garden Stairs Rooms
Some
of these rooms overlook the gardens and cathedral, are en suite and are
in part of the Castle which dates from the Eleventh Century.
Other Bedrooms
In addition the Castle can offer over 200 single and twin student bedrooms. These rooms have shared bathroom facilities and are available in University Vacations.
