Founded in 1953, the Allegri Quartet is one of the oldest British chamber music ensembles in existence. The Quartet has been active over many years in supporting British composers and the present personnel continue the tradition. The Quartet has just embarked on a four-year project to perform a complete cycle of Beethoven's String Quartets. No doubt they will share with us their enthusiasm for the project in this Musicon concert.
