Visiting Students
Introduction
The Law School welcomes applications from students who wish to study Law in Durham for an academic year, outside its formal SOCRATES exchange programmes. Applications are usually made through the University’s Study Abroad Programme.

Certificate in Legal Studies (M3C1)
Visiting students may also apply for the Certificate in Legal Studies. This course is particularly suitable for those wishing to spend a year abroad as part of a law degree at their own universities. Although the Certificate is not a CPE qualifying course it does offer students an exciting opportunity to study 120 credits from the undergraduate curriculum.
Admission depends upon the candidate's experience, and candidates should satisfy the University’s entry requirements. The only limitation is that the course is not available to a graduate in Law from a United Kingdom university.
Although it is not absolutely necessary to have previously taken law courses, ordinarily admission to the Certificate for persons with no previous experience of law would be restricted to graduates.
