Biography
Antonis Antoniadis is a Lecturer in Law and Deputy Director of the Durham European Law Institute. He obtained a Law Degree from the Democritus University of Thrace, an LLM from the University of Cambridge and a PhD for the University of Birmingham. His PhD thesis has been awarded the Richard B. Lillich Prize for the best PhD or SJD dissertation published on a subject related to the procedural aspects of international law by the Procedural Aspects of International Law Institute in calendar years 2006-2007 ( http://www.pail-institute.org/lillich-prize-award_0607.shtml ).
Dr Antoniadis joined Durham as a lecturer in 2003. Prior to this he has worked as a Solicitor in Greece and as a trainee at the WTO Unit of the European Commission Legal Service in Brussels. Since joining Durham he has taught several undergraduate and postgraduate modules in EC and WTO law and supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations in his field of expertise.
Dr Antoniadis's research focuses on the relationship between national, European and international legal orders with a focus on the relations between the European Union and the World Trade Organization. He has presented his research in major international conferences and has published widely in reputable journals in his field.
Dr Antoniadis has been a Visiting Research Fellow at the European University Institute, Florence, Italy and at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law, London and a UACES Fellow.
Dr Antoniadis has been awarded €18,500 by the European Commission as Principal Investigator in order to organise a series of events under the auspices of DELI falling within the theme 'The European Union and Global Emergencies' (see http://www.dur.ac.uk/deli/events/global/ )
