Durham Divas is the official Cheer and Dance club for Durham University students. Following some of the most successful seasons in our history, we are excited to build on that momentum with five competitive teams:

• Blaze – Hip Hop
• Blackout – Level 3 Cheer
• Eclipse – Level 2 Cheer
• Stardust – Pom
• Electra – Lyrical

We are also proud to have Galaxy, our performance team, which showcases high-level, creative routines at sideline events and showcases. This year, we’re expanding further with two new international stunt teams: Inferno (Level 3 group stunt) and Lightning (Level 2 group stunt), who will be competing in Paris in November.

Our Teams & Styles

Competitive Cheer

Our cheer routines are fast-paced, athletic, and performance-driven — combining stunting, tumbling, jumps and dance for a truly impressive display. Experience in cheer or dance is useful, but not essential. Many athletes who joined Divas with no prior experience have gone on to become Regional and National Grand Champions!

Pom Dance

A dynamic, jazzy, and commercial dance style that incorporates poms with kicks, turns, jumps, and sharp arm movements.

Lyrical Dance

A flowing, emotive style with choreography that blends leaps, turns, floor work, and expressive body movement.

Hip Hop

Powerful, high-energy routines drawing from a variety of street dance styles.

Performance Team (Galaxy)

Our performance team doesn’t follow competition score sheets or level restrictions, which allows for advanced, creative, and visually stunning routines. Due to the high-level stunting involved, at least one year of cheer or gymnastics experience is required to try out for Galaxy.

Durham Divas is one of the most decorated university cheerleading and dance clubs in the UK, with a proud history of competitive success and an exciting future ahead!

Teams:

Eclipse (Level 2 Non-Tumble): 1st at FC Nationals, 1st at ICC Nationals and Judges Choice Grand Champions at ICC Nationals (highest score at the competition).

Blackout (Level 3): 2nd at FC Nationals and 3rd at ICC Nationals.

Stardust (Pom): 3rd at FC Nationals and 1st at ICC Nationals.

Electra (Lyrical): 3rd at FC Nationals and 1st at ICC Nationals.

Blaze (Hip Hop): New for the 24/25 season.

Galaxy (Performance Cheer): Successful and full-on season with a highlight being the DUWAFC and DURFC charity matches.
