Printed Circuit boards (PCB)
The Printed Circuit Board plant is capable of producing high quality prototype and production quantities of single sided and multi-layer plater through hole circuit boards up to a maximum of six layers. Max: board size is 300mm x 250mm.
Examples of the PCBs that have been designed and implemented in the centre:
-
PCB layout
A variety of circuit design and simulation tools have been used to produce printed circuit boards. E.G. the design of a microcontroller used to perform equipment configuration and control.
-
60 GHz receiver
The 60 GHz channel sounder receiver has been contructed using commercial wave guide components in conjunction with proprietary electronics. The receiver assembly includes a low noise, low distortion pre-amplifier and a single side band transltion stage to provide signals appropriate to the data acquisition system.
-
6 GHz x2 multiplier
A variety of integrated multifunction radio frequency components have been developed. Multipliers which include amplifiers and filters in addition to a multiplying device have been designed using circuit simulation tools. Circuits have been fabricated using PCB techniques on microwave substrate materials.

Interdigital Filter
Three dimensional electromagnetic structures have been designed and developed including band-pass filters within the microwave frequency range. These mechanical structures have been fabricated using both manual and CNC machines.
