Professor Eugene Milne

Eugene Milne is Director for Adult and Older Adult Health and Wellbeing at Public Health England, Honorary Professor in the Durham University School of Medicine and Health, Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in the Institute of Ageing and Health at Newcastle University. He is a trustee board member of the charity National Energy Action, Vice Chair of the National Institute for Health and Clinical Effectiveness Technical Appraisal Committee and a Strategy Board Member of Fuse. Prior to working in public health, he trained in paediatrics. In recent years he has worked on the reduction of adult cardiovascular disease and tobacco control, and has been heavily involved in the development of the North East Regional Health and Wellbeing Strategy, 'Better Health, Fairer Health'.

He has research interests in ageing, its associated diseases and in biodemography, and is currently involved in research relating to perceived risk and health-seeking behaviours, impact of benefits maximisation on health in old age, and winter excess mortality and morbidity.
