Durham University Cricket Club stars perform at The Hundred
(29 July 2021)
After making his professional debut just over a week ago, Chris Benjamin helps Birmingham Phoenix secure victory over London Spirit at the Hundred. Chris, who has just graduated from Durham with a degree in Accounting and Finance, has catapulted himself into the spotlight and hit 24 not out from 15 balls to take Phoenix to a three-wicket win.
Birmingham needed 24 runs from 14 balls when Benny Howell was dismissed but Chris hit two sixes and a four which left Birmingham requiring one from the last five. Adam Milne hit the winning runs with three balls to spare.
After hitting an impressive 277 runs in Middlesex’s T20 campaign second year Sports and Exercise Science student, Joe Cracknell, replaced Dan Lawrence at London Spirit for the remainder of The Hundred.
This is a huge achievement for our athletes, who are both Collingwood College students and we speak on behalf of Team Durham as we congratulate them on their respective performances.
