Credits:

Credits are gained when a student has satisfied the Board of Examiners in respect of the assessment requirements for the module concerned (i.e. when you pass a module). The credit value for each module is indicated in the module description, and in the relevant degree regulations.

Corequisites:

Modules that must be taken in the same academic year as the selected module.

Level:

A stage of study within a degree programme, generally referring to the year in which a particular module would be studied (e.g. 1, 2, 3 or 4). Each level consists of 120 credits, the completion of which enables a student to progress to the next level of their degree programme.

Open Module:

A module that is available to any student following any programme offered by any Board of Studies who can satisfy the prerequisites.

Prerequisites:

Requirements that need to have been fulfilled before a student can register for the module. They are supplementary to general entry requirements. Some examples of prerequisites include: specific subjects or grades at A-level, a specific total A-level score, specific GCSE subjects or grades, titles of any modules at a lower level that must already have been satisfactorily completed (i.e. passed).

Tied Module:

A module that is only available to students studying on a particular degree programme(s).
