We encompass a breadth of activities, with our main focus on the application of social science methods and concepts to social and policy issues.

Cutting across the Department and the wider Faculty and institution, colleagues in the Department are actively involved in Interdisciplinary Research Centres, notably Violence and AbuseSocial Justice and Community Action, and in Institutes including the Institute of Hazard, Risk and Resilience and the Institute of Advanced Study and the Wolfson Research Institute for Health and Wellbeing.

Celebrating 10 years of CRiVA

The Centre for Research into Violence and Abuse (CRiVA) has been dedicated to designing and enhancing research-led education, policy and practice since 2013. The work of our world-leading researchers has informed and improved legal, professional and societal responses to violence and abuse.

FSSH International Brochure

The Faculty of Social Sciences and Health has an extensive global collaboration in research and education with partners across the world, promoting Social Science solutions to the world’s greatest challenges.

The stories presented in our International Brochure demonstrate sustained and positive engagement with international partners, particularly around work with social justice in society and the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. Our eight departments have funded research projects on every continent.
