Preliminary investigations targeting singer Patrick Bruel for assault, exhibition or sexual harassment, as well as a report from the Swiss authorities to French justice, were closed on December 22, 2020, Agence France-Presse (AFP) learned. Friday, September 3 from a source close to the investigation.

This classification, carried out by the public prosecutor’s office of Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), where the cases had been disoriented, took place “In the absence of any element making it possible to characterize a criminal offense”, told AFP the same source. The singer’s lawyer, Hervé Temime, declined to comment.

Several complaints and reports

Two investigations had been opened against Patrick Bruel after the separate reports of two masseuses for alleged facts dating from 2019: in Perpignan, for sexual assault, and in Ajaccio, for sexual exhibition and sexual harassment. In Perpignan, a masseuse in her thirties accused Mr. Bruel of sexual assault during a massage session in the hotel where the singer was staying on the occasion of his participation in a music festival in Argelès -sur-Mer, in July 2019.

Patrick Bruel was also targeted by a preliminary investigation for sexual exhibition and sexual harassment after accusations in 2019 of another masseuse at the Radisson Blu hotel in Porticcio. “The young masseuse reports that when she arrives in Patrick Bruel’s dressing room, the door is locked and the light is dimmed. As she begins the massage, the singer also refuses to follow the protocol in this area, in particular to put on clothes, and will therefore remain naked ”, had clarified the prosecutor of the Republic of Ajaccio, Eric Bouillard. The singer acknowledges these facts, “However, specifying that when he lies on his back he covers himself with a towel. (…) The young woman also indicates that Mr. Bruel will have very specific requests for massages in certain areas. There, the singer denies the facts reported by the young woman “, had specified Mr. Bouillard.

During their investigations, the investigators also heard other women accusing Patrick Bruel of sexual assault, sexual exhibition or sexual harassment, for facts dating back to 2008 according to the accusers.

["content"]=> array(1) { ["encoded"]=> string(4020) "

The figures for the Covid-19 epidemic are often very interesting to analyze, and this is particularly the case of those posted online this Friday by the Ministry of Health. For the past month, the Directorate of Research, Studies, Evaluation and Statistics (DREES) has published weekly the numbers of positive cases, hospitalizations, and critical care admissions according to vaccination status. Now they are also available by age group. This avoids the bias of having only all ages combined in the same statistics, given that the vaccines are not as effective according to the profiles or the date of the injection (protection decreases with time and the older were vaccinated as a priority).

The Drees has distinguished five age groups: under 20, 20-39, 40-59, 60-79, and 80 and over. What should we take away from it? To summarize, regardless of the category, there have been throughout the last few weeks, for an equal population, many more positive cases, hospitalizations and critical admissions in unvaccinated people than in vaccinated people.

Beware of interpretations

For example, on August 22, among those aged 80 and over, there were eight times the daily admissions to the hospital of patients diagnosed with Covid-19 every day among a group of 10 million unvaccinated people, than in a group of 10 million fully immunized people. Namely, respectively, 744 and 94 daily hospitalizations. In 60-79 year olds, the multiplying factor is 22 (677 hospitalizations for 10 million unvaccinated, 31 for 10 million vaccinated). Among 20-39 year olds, it is 29 (166 and 6 respectively). Note that we only take into account patients who test positive and not all those with suspicion of Covid-19, but the reports are similar. And among those under 20, the numbers are too low to be able to have reliable data.

The evolution in curves shows that during this fourth wave and until August 22, there were always – with an identical population – more unvaccinated patients than vaccinated patients who were admitted to the hospital. This is true for all regions and we find similar results for positive cases and critical care admissions. That is to say that in each age group, always with an equal population, each time there are more patients who test positive and patients in a very severe condition among the unvaccinated than among the vaccinated.

These data are invaluable and they confirm that vaccines are protective, but be careful not to misinterpret them. To take our first example, the fact that there are 8 times more hospitalizations of unvaccinated than of vaccinated in people aged at least 80 years does not mean that a vaccinated has – precisely – 8 times less. risk of being hospitalized. The data from the DREES are simple “descriptive statistics” at time T, as indicated by the Ministry of Health. This factor 8 (or any other) is “a true value at the scale of a population, (…) but it should not be transformed into an individual probability”, recently told us a researcher who wanted to stay anonymous.

Tennis

The attitude of Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas, 3rd in the world, is singled out during the US Open tennis tournament which is currently taking place in New York. The reason ? The player allows himself long toilet breaks of nearly ten minutes when he is in difficulty during a meeting. An initiative allowed by the regulations but which makes people cringe.

This is the subject of discord, the one that increasingly annoys the world of tennis: the toilets breaks, or “toilet breaks” in French. The Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas is particularly in the middle of the storm during the US Open which is currently taking place in New York, in the United States. The world number 3 has indeed granted such breaks of nearly ten minutes at the end of sets he had lost.

Andy Murray, his opponent in the first round, is the one who lit the fuse in the press conference after his loss 6-2, 6-7, 6-3, 3-6, 4-6. “What he does is rubbish, and he knows it. I don’t feel like it’s good for the game, launched the Scottish very annoyed. He’s a brilliant player but I lost all respect for him. “

Tsitsipas respects the rules

The next day, the nervousness had come down to the former world number 1 who still took the time to post a very sarcastic message on the social network Twitter. “It took Tsitsipas twice as long to go to the bathroom as it did Jeff Bezos to fly into space. Interesting. “ A statement shared on many occasions and which reflects the general nervousness of the public on this subject.

However, Tsitsipas is in the rules. The ATP, the circuit that governs the men’s circuit, allows each player to benefit from two breaks during a best of five sets match with no time limit. A break which therefore concerns these famous toilet break just like the change of clothes. During these stops, the player is systematically accompanied by an official who ensures that he does not come into contact with anyone around him or from the outside.

“I follow the rules, I don’t break them. I believe there is a rule for that which does not specify the time that one must spend in the bathroom. It is important to take it into account ”, also defends the player. There remains the question of the spirit and the rule. Because what is particularly pointed out is that these breaks are taken by the tennis player then in difficulty on the court. Conversely, the dynamic player waits, his body cools down and he can lose adrenaline at the same time as the game progresses. This usually happens.

“A new player on the court”

These breaks have always existed but were much less significant. The new generation of players has taken it more and more as the regulations around the time spent to serve are more and more strict and now set at 25 seconds. “It puts stress on the players and it does not speed up the game with players who end up quitting”, indicated Gilles Simon in an interview with the newspaper The team .

The Serbian Novak Djokovic had started to talk this way at Roland Garros this year. Twice, led two sets zero, he was returned to the locker room before reversing the situation against Musetti and… Tsitsipas in the final. Maybe that gave the Greek some ideas.

“He came back to the court as if he was almost a new player, then indicated the 23-year-old after the meeting. I don’t know what happened there. I really do not know. He then played really very well. He didn’t give me space. He was much more toned, cooler than before he had taken that break. I don’t know, I felt like he could read my game better all of a sudden. Well done to him. He did well to do that. “

The tensions are also born from the opacity of what happens during this period of time. Nobody knows what the player is doing. “I changed my underwear, specified the Serbian during the Parisian fortnight. But above all, you take advantage of this moment to reset yourself mentally and change your environment. We come back with a fresh mind, we breathe deeply and we come back to the court as a new player. After the break I felt different. “

Sanctions soon?

Stefanos Tsitsipas explains that he sweats a lot and therefore needs to change his clothes. “You carry less weight on you with all the sweat, you feel younger, fresher, and you don’t have all of your sweat getting in your way, coming down your face, on your fingers and all over your body. It makes you feel better. I try to go as fast as possible. Sometimes I just need more time. “

In Cincinnati (United States) two weeks ago, his opponent Alexander Zverev had another vision of the why of these breaks and believed that the player was coached by his father present in the stands.

“He was gone for over ten minutes. And on his return, suddenly, he completely changes his tactics. It’s not just me, everyone has seen it! His whole game plan has changed. So either there was something magical about where he went or there was some form of communication. “ The Greek had indeed left with his whole bag under his arm and his father was at the same time filmed in the stands sending messages. What to stir up suspicion.

The subject of these breaks therefore becomes hot and the weight is increasingly strong for the establishment of new rules in order to avoid abuse. Andy Murray clarified that the subject had been under discussion for a little while with several protagonists on the players’ council. Mention has been made of the loss of the service game if the time-out is taken just before the engagement of his opponent or of a maximum of two five-minute breaks throughout the match.

In an interview with RMC Sport radio, Arnaud Clément, a former French player now a consultant, said: “We will need unsportsmanlike conduct warnings if it is determined to be the case. ” A new thorn in the side of world tennis.

It is a masterful catch that the investigators of the judicial police carried out, this Tuesday, August 31, by questioning the one who is presented as the boss of one of the biggest points of deal of the Marseille city.

At 37, he is described as one of the most influential traffickers in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). According to our information, Kamel Meziani was arrested on August 31 in the Paris region, at the Fleury-en-Bière (Seine-et-Marne) tollgate at the exit of the A6 motorway, coming from Marseille. This thirty-something was arrested by the police of the National Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) and the National Fugitive Search Brigade (BNRF), while he was in a car with a woman and children.

Nicknamed “Mouse”, he offered no resistance to the police officers deployed in large numbers. On the run since the summer of 2019, Kamel Meziani was the subject of an Interpol red card. Under two arrest warrants issued by the Marseille courts after two convictions to 14 and 30 years of criminal imprisonment, he was placed in detention pending retrial. He is presented as the patron of the City of Olives, a high place of dealings in the Phocaean city, located in the 13th arrondissement, in the heart of the northern districts of the city.

Kamel Meziani, depicted as a “very intelligent”, “courteous” and “quick-witted” man, was arrested at the beginning of 2019 while he was on the run in Marrakech in Morocco. Extradited to France, he was tried the following summer in a trial against a network of drug traffickers in the city of Olives. But he had been able to regain his freedom after a succession of legal twists and turns.

Incarcerated as part of the dismantling of this traffic, he had seen his arrest warrant lifted by the Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal in June 2019. But under a second arrest warrant after his indicted in the context of a double settlement of accounts committed on October 21, 2016 in the parking lot of a fast food establishment in Marseille which resulted in the death of two young men, he had been kept in detention.

Released after a failure of justice

His trial, which was due to start on July 3, 2019, was postponed after his lawyers requested the disqualification of several magistrates making up the court. Finally tried three days later, the decision was reserved for July 10. But on July 8, “Souris” was released by decision of the Court of Cassation which considered that the Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal had taken too long to rule on a request for release in connection with contesting his extradition from Morocco. His three lawyers, Me Raphaël Chiche, Thomas Bidnic and Dominique Mattéi had thus managed to make him recover his freedom.

A “windfall” which he had taken advantage of to immediately go on the run. Kamel Meziani was then sentenced to 14 years in prison in the Oliviers drug trafficking case and 30 years of criminal imprisonment for the double murder in October 2016. Two cases for which he will have to be retried.

“It is a heavy weight of traffic in the northern districts”

“We knew he had drop-off points in Algeria and we were surprised to find out that he had recently returned to the surroundings of Marseille, blows a senior official. Meziani is a heavyweight in traffic in the northern districts. He was at the head of a very solid and united network, which has always been able to reconstitute itself despite the major police operations carried out to dismantle it ”.

Despite the brilliant start to the career of the new Sandero or the immense popularity of the Duster, just because we are called Dacia does not mean that the future is necessarily blue. The Lodgy and the Logan can attest to this, they who, despite a beautiful roominess or a giant trunk, have never seduced families with us. But at a time when the minivan is taking its bow, impossible for the Romanian manufacturer to be satisfied with the Sandero / Duster duo, it needs a 7-seater worthy of the name. This is the role of this brand new Jogger.

Why is the new Jogger so important for Dacia?

1. Habitable AND sexy

Starting from a latest generation Sandero, from which it takes up the entire front end up to the first two doors, this new crossover is much more attractive to the eye than the two models it succeeds. To offer the best possible reception, the Jogger extends the CMF-B platform shared with its little sister Sandero as much as possible. With a wheelbase of up to 2.90 m for 4.55 m long and a very vertical tailgate, this new wagon promises generous seats in three rows thanks to its raised roof, or a huge trunk in its 5-seater version: up to 708 dm3 against only 160 dm3 in 7-seater.

To claim its “outdoor” positioning, this Jogger adopts the fittings of the successful Stepway variants, made up of fender wideners, a double-boss hood, false skis at the bottom of the shields and large roof bars. Without forgetting a raised plate offering a ground clearance of 20 cm, just to pass without too much problem in the sunken lanes. And, a nod to the Duster, the special launch Extreme series, presented here, receives a sticker on the front doors evoking the schnorkel-style hubcap of the Romanian SUV.

2. Welcoming

To climb aboard, passengers benefit from specific rear doors that are significantly longer compared to those of the Sandero and a drop of 4 cm compared to the front doors also facilitating access to the two seats in the boot. A space where – as we have verified – we are not too confined since Dacia has made sure that each row of passengers sees the road. The two seats of the trunk being removable and individual, we can also travel to six with some luggage. While the custodes can open a crack for natural ventilation. For those attracted by the immense trunk of the 5-seater variant (1.15 m loading length), Dacia has provided four lashing rings and elastic tensioners holding the luggage, not to mention two hooks for hanging bags.

3. Always smart

In the front, the Jogger of course takes the fairly well presented dashboard of the Sandero, despite hard plastics. Privilege compared to its little sister, it offers, from the basic Essentiel finish, a steering wheel adjustable on both levels and a driver’s seat adjustable in height. Unsurprisingly, we find the practical roof racks of the Stepway or even a smartphone holder allowing, after downloading the free Dacia Media Control app, to transform your own phone into a touchscreen for everything. Navigation, control the radio or even use Siri or Android voice recognition: it’s possible and it’s smart!

At the top of the range, the Jogger even has luxury perfumes with wireless connection (wi-fi) or heated seats. What to make of it, if your heart tells you, a fashionable car, without imposing too much sophistication on everyone. As long as Dacia sticks to it.

4. The first Dacia hybrid!

Size and number of places oblige, the 1.0 65 hp will not have the right of city on the Jogger with the weight however controlled (from 1,176 kg). The range begins with the 1.0 TCe 100 ECO-G compatible with LPG supplemented – this is new at Dacia – by the same 3-cylinder 1.0 turbo petrol, but with direct injection and delivering 110 hp and 200 Nm of torque. Those who consider this power insufficient or who hoped for a diesel will be disappointed. But if they wait until 2023, Dacia is preparing a real hybrid for them, which will take over the successful technology of the Clio, Captur and Arkana E-Tech. With 140 hp, this Jogger, simply called hybrid, also available in 7-seater, should be both economical in town and quite efficient on the road, while remaining competitive in price … for a “green” variation is understood. The first deliveries – excluding hybrid – will begin in February 2022, with a first price around € 15,000.

Space

By the evening edition with Agence France-Presse

Briton Richard Branson became the first billionaire to fly in space. It was July 11, 2021. At the time, his company, Virgin Galactic, had assured that this trip had gone as planned. But the theft would have actually come close to disaster, according to the American magazine The New Yorker. An investigation has been opened.

“It is a once in a lifetime experience”, Richard Branson said on Sunday, July 11, 2021. On that day, the Briton became the first billionaire to go to space aboard the spacecraft of a private company he himself created, Virgin Galactic. Before Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, a few days later.

But this trip could also have been fatal. According to a survey published by the American magazine The New Yorker Wednesday, September 1, the flight would have come close to disaster.

Virgin Galactic, had at the time assured that everything had gone as planned, but the spacecraft would have actually flew briefly outside the airspace dedicated to the mission. And security alerts would have come on during the flight.

The day after the article was published, the United States Aviation Agency (FAA) announced that it had opened an investigation. on a deviation of trajectory during this highly publicized flight, which was to mark the company’s entry into the era of space tourism.

“Virgin Galactic will not be able to revive its SpaceShipTwo spacecraft until the FAA approves the final investigation report or determines that the issues related to the incident do not affect public safety.”, the US agency said.

Orange light, then red

Virgin Galactic reacted by ensuring “Work in partnership with the FAA to review the short period during which the vessel fell below the permissible altitude”. The company said it took the problem ” seriously “ and seek to determine “How to prevent this from happening again in future missions”.

The trajectory problem threatened to compromise the return phase to Earth, when the spacecraft hovered until it landed on a runway, according to The New Yorker. To successfully land, the craft must begin its descent at the top of an imaginary “cone”. By not having flown steeply enough during the ascent, he might not be able to accumulate enough energy to reach his destination.

Citing anonymous sources within the company, the magazine said the safest way to react to these alerts would have been to stop the mission. But the two pilots on board decided to continue the flight despite these lights, first orange, then red. The landing finally went off without a hitch. The vessel was carrying, in addition to Richard Branson and the two pilots, three other passengers employed by the company.

Prestigious guests (including SpaceX founder Elon Musk) as well as all the press were invited to the event, broadcast live on the internet.

In a statement ahead of the FAA’s announcement, Virgin Galactic strongly contested the findings of the article by The New Yorker. “When the vehicle was confronted with high altitude winds, which modified the trajectory, the pilots and systems monitored the trajectory to ensure that it remained within the framework of the mission parameters”, then detailed the company. Our pilots responded appropriately to these changing flight conditions. “

Next mission threatened?

Neither the public nor the crew were endangered, Virgin Galactic argued. “Although the final path deviated from our original plan, it was an intentional and controlled flight path. “

The Virgin Galactic ship is not a “standard” rocket taking off vertically. The company uses a huge carrier plane, which takes off from a conventional runway, then drops a spacecraft (SpaceShipTwo) aloft, resembling a large private jet.

This then ignites its engine until it exceeds 80 km in altitude (the limit of space according to the American army), then descends while hovering. Passengers can break away and experiment for a few minutes in zero gravity.

This ban on flying until further notice is a blow to Virgin Galactic, which had just confirmed Thursday the holding of a new test flight “Late September or early October”. This flight, which we do not now know if it will be able to take place according to the announced schedule, must be devoted to scientific research, in partnership with the Italian Air Force.

The group’s stock, which had fallen suddenly after the FAA’s announcement, lost around 3% at the close of trading.
