Please note that new rules valid from May/June 2015 state that the University undertakes a ‘self-assessment’ for the qualifications that are not automatically accepted by the visa authorities. This new self-assessment validates decisions that the University makes showing that the qualification is appropriate. The testing the University does is to sample a number of students accepted under the self-assessment route, as a means to reassure the University (and give assurance to UKVI) that continuing to accept the self-assessed qualification is valid.
Details of the new rules are published in:
“The University accepts IELTS, TOEFL iBT, Cambridge Proficiency (CPE), Cambridge Advanced (CAE) and the Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic as preferred English Language proficiency tests.
However, some applicants may experience difficulties in making the necessary arrangements to take these tests and alternatives may be acceptable in exceptional circumstances. Paragraphs 3i-3o outline alternative acceptable tests and paragraph 4 details tests currently deemed not acceptable as reliable evidence of English language proficiency.”
