In July 2016 the governing Councils of Durham and Newcastle Universities made a decision to transfer the activities of the School of Medicine, Pharmacy and Health to Newcastle University, Faculty of Medical Sciences. This transfer has now taken place and the activities, apart from continuing taught postgraduate students due to complete their studies in September 2017 and Year 2 Phase I MBBS students, have now physically relocated to Newcastle University.
