School of Applied Social Sciences

Postgraduate Study

While we do not, at present, offer a taught postgraduate programme specifically in sport, exercise and physical activity, we welcome applicants who would like to focus upon sport, exercise or physically activity through their Dissertation on one of our other Masters programmes with the School of Applied Social Sciences, details of which can be found here:

The School of Applied Social Sciences welcomes enquiries and applications from potential research students in any areas of the School’s expertise in the fields of sociology, social policy, criminology, social work, sport and community and youth work. Staff across the School contribute to a series of interdisciplinary research groups. Current major projects include studies on Youth Justice, Domestic Violence Perpetrator Programmes, youth work, health inequalities and Race, Crime and Justice. The School publishes a series of research briefings highlighting the outputs of research projects. Current and past research students in the School have also conducted a range of studies relevant to developments in contemporary theory, policy and practice for their doctoral dissertations.
