Respect at Work and Study
At Durham we believe our staff and students have the right to work, study and live within an environment where they can thrive, we expect all our staff and students to be treated with dignity and respect.
To support this inclusive and respectful environment we have policies in place which describe the standards of behaviour that are expected by members of the university community, how unwanted behaviour can be reported, and the procedures in place to deal with these behaviours.
To ensure that these policies and procedures are effective and continue to facilitate and grow respect and inclusion at the University, they are subject to periodic review. As outlined in the Respect Commission Recommendations, reviews of these policies in 2020-2021 are underway. These will reference developments in the higher education sector, draw on analysis of Durham University prevention and response systems, and incorporate consultation processes.
