The Fundamentals of Creative Facilitation: Training for those working in health and well-being

Watch this space for details of the next course coming in Spring 2024.

Durham University’s Institute for Medical Humanities is in the unique position of having its own Creative Facilitation Unit. We know that creative facilitation can make a real difference - from developing innovative research methodologies to running meetings more effectively - and want to spread the skillset.
You might want to be a facilitator, or to discover when and why to bring a facilitator in. This course will help you decide, and introduce you to a strong, mutually supportive community of people who use and champion the use of creative facilitation in health and wellbeing contexts in the Northeast and beyond.

Together, we’ll examine methods, attributes, and aspects of creative facilitation, so that participants will be able to apply it in their workplaces. You will learn some key participative methods and there will be opportunities to practice them in a supportive and interactive environment.

By the end of this course, the participants will:

  • Be able to identify when and how to use the methods described.
  • Have gained confidence in the use of the methods in different contexts.
  • Have forged links with others keen to discover ways to use the methods in their workplaces.

Whilst we are situated in the academy, we know that it can be useful in other professional environments and so are particularly keen to deliver it to a cross-sectoral cohort. Hence this two-day, in-person course. Please note - you will need to attend both days.
