The Rev. Lucy Winkett: The Henson Lecture: Raising Lazarus or Raising Cain? The Vocation of the Church in Contemporary Britain

6:15pm, Prior's Hall, Durham Cathedral

The annual Hensley Henson lecture commemorates one of the most outspoken and politically active bishops in the modern Church. Henson was Bishop of Durham between 1920 and 1939 and a well-known figure both locally and nationally.

The lecture series is designed to consider the Church’s scope for political intervention within a Church-State establishment and in a society characterised by religious diversity and increasing secularisation.

The series is a collaborative venture between the Departments of History, Theology, and Politics at the University, and Durham Cathedral.
