Tutor Trust Project Evaluation
A research project of the School of Education.
We propose to undertake an ambitious pragmatic randomised controlled multi-armed trial that will answer the following questions:
(1) Will a weekly Tutor Trust intervention among year 6 pupils improve KS2 results compared with business as usual?
(2) Will additional Tutor Trust sessions (as dictated by the school and a child’s teacher with number of sessions tailored to individual pupils) have an increased effect on KS2 outcomes compared with a single weekly Tutor Trust intervention?
(3) *Is Tutor Trust more effective for maths teaching compared with online maths tuition delivered by Third Space Learning?
*This comparison is dependent upon whether the current EEF trial of Third Space Learning demonstrates a significant effectiveness on maths learning.
This study is a collaborative application between the Universities of Durham and York. Durham University will provide expertise in educational design methodology and support for the process evaluation, whilst the York Trials Unit (YTU) will provide statistics and trial management expertise.
The project is funded by the following grant.
