Capacity Assessment for the GB Electricity Market

A research project of the Durham Energy Institute.

Background

This project is funded by the National Grid to design the quantitative modelling for the GB Statutory Capacity Assessment Study. This was a duty placed on Ofgem in the last Energy Act to write an annual report to the government assessing whether risks of generating capacity shortages are acceptably low in the next five winters. Chris Dent designed the technical modelling for the 2012 and 2013 studies.
