Step Up to Social Work Longitudinal Evaluation
A research project of the Department of Sociology.
This is a follow up to previous evaluations of the Step Up to Social Work employer-based route to qualification, intended to identify the longer-term outcomes of this kind of fast-track route.
To undertake a comparative study of retention and career progression of Step Up to Social Work and other social work qualifying programmes.
A mixed methods comparative study, utilising survey-based quantitative date, interview-based qualitative data, and a validated self-efficacy tool to provide substantive evidence on career progression and achievements.
The expected findings will illustrate commonalities and differences between differing qualifying routes in social work, shedding light on the quality of preparation for practice and any variations according to participants’ background and characteristics.
