International Landslide Centre (ILC)

A research group of the Department of Geography.

The International Landslide Centre was established in the Department of Geography in 2003 with the following aims:

  1. To undertake fundamental research into landslide problems with a particular emphasis on less developed countries.
  2. To provide direct assistance to communities affected by landslide disasters.
  3. Assist in the development of capabilities to cope with and mitigate against landslides in less developed countries.

We are currently working on a range of projects in Asia, S. America, Africa, Europe and North America. We undertake projects funded by industry; national and local government agencies; research councils; and by international organisations. We are always seeking to work in new areas, so please do contact us.
