Dr Naomi Griffin

My research interests are all related to social justice and challenging inequality. I am particularly interested in effectively and equitably measuring, analysing and challenging the social determinants of inequalities and opportunities in childhood and their lifelong impacts, primarily in the context of Education and Health.
I joined Durham University in January 2017 as a post-doctoral researcher and coordinator for the Durham University Evidence Centre for Education (DECE) and supporting various projects within the centre in data gathering and analysis (projects included Evaluation of UK Space Agency Principia Programme, Evaluation of Meols Cop FLASH marking project, the EasyPeasy Evaluation, an analysis Over-subscribed Schools in County Durham, and a systematic review of pathways to getting evidence into policy and practice).
Alongside this role I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate for Impact, developing REF Impact Case Studies for the School of Education and the Department of Sport and Exercise Science, through which I undertook research impact training on data gathering, impact acceleration (as a result of which I successfully applied for Research Impact funding and ESRC funding for an Impact generating event) and constructing a compelling impact narrative..
I also previously worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Edge Hill University, working on a mixed-methods project investigating transitions to veganism and plant-based diets.
On March 1st 2019 I started a full time Postdoctoral Research Associate role as part of the Fuse @ Durham project based across the Departments of Sports and Exercise Science and Sociology, working on a project funded by the School for Public Health Research, analysing the policy context of inequalities in health and wellbeing for (SPHR theme) Children, Young People and Families.
