Biography

I completed my undergraduate studies in Chemistry and my masters in Physical Chemistry and chemistry of materials at the University of Lebanon. Following that, I moved to France on a fellowship from the French ministry to do a PhD with Dr. Kheya Sengupta and Dr. Anne Charrier. My PhD project was at the cross-road between chemistry, physics and biology. I solved a technological challenge in biophysics: that of nano-patterning biomolecules on soft materials. After finishing my PhD in December 2016, I stayed in the same lab as a post-doctoral researcher and as a teaching assistant in the department of chemistry. In September 2017, I moved to Durham University to start a one-year post-doctorate position under the supervision of Dr. Margarita Staykova on ‘the mechanics of the cellular coat’. Due to the short duration of the project, I applied and was awarded the Durham International Junior research fellowship for my project on understanding friction force between interacting cell membranes. Since then, I am a Junior research fellow in the department of physics at Durham University.
