My position involved characterising properties of clastic reservoirs deposited in a broad range of depositional settings, with main focus on continental systems. My experience includes sedimentological and petrographic analysis of clastic rocks, stratigraphic correlation and wireline log interpretation. I was involved in core logging and depositional modelling of various reservoirs mainly from the UK and Norwegian Continental Shelf. My wellsite experience involved performing chemical stratigraphic analysis, both onshore and offshore.
Diagenetic Controls of Reservoir Quality in Carboniferous Tight Gas Sandstones
The project focus is on poorly documented, low porosity and low permeability, tight Namurian sandstones from the Southern North Sea (SNS). Prospectivity studies across the Carboniferous fairway in the SNS have proven the presence of undrilled prospects within the Namurian strata. However, small variations in diagenetic style in those sandstones can result in permeability differences of several orders of magnitude over small areas of reservoir, rendering the reservoir quality the main exploration risk for those prospects. The objective of this project is to create predictive reservoir quality and porosity distribution models through detailed analysis of diagenetic history and pore structures.
