Biography

Julie completed her degree in Computing for Business at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle in 2001.

She has completed management training at Durham University in ILM Level3, Level4 and Diploma Level 5 .
She is Publicity and Communications Professional and is a member of the DU technical managers network https://www.dur.ac.uk/lets.network/dutmn/

Julie's Role within the School is divided into two keys areas

Technical Officer :

Providing advice, expertise and support for all areas of Health and Safety to meet University and external legal requirements. Producing regular Health and Safety reports to the ECS H&S Committee as well as a written annual report on Health and Safety for the Head of School.
Managment and coordination of the collection and disposal of hazardous waste within ECS.
Leading of and responsibility for all School display screen assessments.

Management of all School AV facilities, producing recommendations for changes and replacement of equipment.

Provision of support and resilience to the technical staff in the laboratories.

Communications Professional:

Co ordination and support to ECS Publicity Committee as required.
Maintenance and design of the top-level and sta ff profi le areas of the School and Research Centre's web pages.

Provide a central service to the School of ECS which includes:
  • Photography, Location and Studio to aid Publicity of ECS Research, conferences, publications and achievments.
  • Use of Advanced IT skills to:
    • Aid and progress business process.
    • Student recruitment
    • Staff student induction
    • Computer aided graphic design
    • Communication of information
