Dr Lan Dong, PhD
Lan Dong is a postdoctoral research associate in the School of Education, Durham University. She is working with the team of Durham Evidence Centre for Education. She is currently managing EdTech test-bed trials funded by NESTA. Before becoming a research student, she gained her Bachelor degree in Ethnomusicology from the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing and her Master’s degree from Durham University. Lan was a broadcaster/music editor in one of China’s leading music channels then trained to become a qualified Montessori teacher in AMI, London and taught in Beijing as a bilingual teacher and a music specialist.
Her principal interest is in culture-related education phenomena, and her PhD research is about how musical engagement and the overall school experience can influence individual development, by focusing on the perceptions of ex-choristers from English Cathedrals.
