Miss Duygu Senocak
I received my BA in English Literature with high honours from Bilkent University, Turkey. I obtained an MA with distinction in English Studies from Durham University in 2012, with a dissertation entitled‘Hart Crane’s Poetics:The Logic of Myth and Metaphor’. I started my PhD at Durham in 2013 under the supervision of Dr Jason Harding. My project, funded by a Durham Doctoral Studentship, explores the use of myth in the works of T.S. Eliot and Hart Crane. I aim to reassess the famous 'mythical method' by promoting myth as a mode of thought in modernist poetry. My research drawsheavily on Claude Lévi-Strauss’s concepts of bricoleur and bricolage, and the epistemological and linguistic premises of Ernst Cassirer’s myth theory.
