I completed my Bachelor’s degree in English Language at the University of Glasgow. Becoming interested in Medieval studies, in particular the role of gender in the Middle Ages, I completed my MA in Medieval and Renaissance Studies at Durham University. My MA dissertation, titled ‘Setting Saracen Women within a culture: A Study of Saracen Women in Middle English Romances’, focused on tracing the identity and representation of Saracen women.
My PhD thesis, supervised by Professor Corinne Saunders, builds on my MA dissertation. The thesis conducts a deeper analysis of the representation of Saracen women in Medieval romances and what their depiction reveals about Muslim-Christian interaction and exchange of knowledge during the Crusades.
