Dr Abeer Al-Mahdawi
I completed my BA in the English Department/ University of Baghdad in Iraq, and had been an Assistant Instructor in the College of Arts/ Khanaquin/Al-Sulaimaniya University since 2006 after I got my MA degree in English Literature in Al-Mustansiriya University in Baghdad.
The materials that I taught to BA students of the four levels were: An Introduction to English Literature, Novel from the Eighteenth till the Twentieth Century, Drama from the Renaissance till the Nineteenth Century preceded by an introduction of its history. I also taught non-departmental French language to freshmen.
I started my PhD programme in Durham University in October 2012. The topic of my dissertation, supervised by Prof Stephen Regan and Dr Marina MacKay, is about eschatology in modern American poetry concentrating on the Confessional Poets like Robert Lowell, Sylvia Plath, Randall Jarrell, Anne Sexton, Elizabeth Bishop and John Berryman.
