What is 'Publication'

The University encourages all researchers to promote their work through publishing and other forms of dissemination.

The process of publication is bringing an output into the public domain. Publications may include:

  • Authored or edited book (or chapter in a book)
  • Journal article
  • Conference contributions
  • Report for external body
  • Website content
  • Digital or visual media
  • Database or dataset

For a full list, see the list of outputs for REF.

In addition to the publication itself, there may be associated publicity e.g. media articles. Contact the Communications team for advice on working with the media.
