As of 1st April 2018:
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) has been created as a result of the Higher Education and Research Act (HERA). The strategic partnership of the UK's seven Research Councils, Research Councils UK (RCUK) will transition into UKRI.
These webpages refer to the Research Councils by their individual names (AHRC, BBSRC, EPSRC, ESRC, MRC, NERC and STFC) or by a grouped name of UK Research Councils. Where this term is used it refers specifically to the seven research councils and does not refer to Innovate UK and Research England (also parts of UKRI) which currently have their own policy on open access.
UKRI has opted to continue to refer to what was the RCUK Policy on Open Access using the same name, which may be reflected in guidance on these pages.
