Avril Brown

Senior Community Services Manager

Avril Brown is the Senior Community Services Manager at Queen's and manages the provision of Central Administration and secretarial services, including the Reception areas in Holliday, Ebsworth and Wolfson and the Campus Reprographics Department, managing budgets and performance of staff. She co-ordinates the training and development of Central Administration and secretarial staff, liaising with the Durham Training team to tailor courses to specific requirements as needed. Avril also liaises with the Training Team on behalf of staff on Campus, regarding opportunities to run courses at Queen's.

In addition she has responsibility for the day to day management of the telecoms and postal services on Campus, as well as the Campus-wide purchase of furniture and equipment.

Avril is the Coach Co-ordinator for staff at Queen's, the H&S co-ordinator and Diversity & Equality contact for Central Administration and deputises for the Operations Director during periods of absence. She also co-ordinates and Chairs the Campus Admin Network meetings and co-ordinates volunteer projects for the team.

Avril joined the University in 1993, having spent 20+ years in administration and training.
