Aims

Learning Outcomes

Subject-specific Knowledge:
  • Upon successful completion of the module, the students will:
  • have a critical understanding of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial behaviour;
  • have a critical understanding of the ways in which entrepreneurial activity in different organisational contexts can be supported;
  • knowledge of how to manage the entrepreneurial task environment, particularly in terms of organising and resourcing entrepreneurship;
  • be equipped with knowledge of how to manage networks and relationships for entrepreneurship;
  • have a critical appreciation of opportunities and threats to entrepreneurial behaviours in modern business environments and ways to foster entrepreneurial responses in individuals and organisations to meet these changes;
  • be aware of the key considerations in adopting and fostering entrepreneurial responses within different organisational contexts.
Subject-specific Skills:
  • Upon successful completion of the module, the students will :
  • have developed skills around opportunity identification and exploitation in the entrepreneurial and organisational contexts;
  • have developed means to diagnose, assess, plan and implement change entrepreneurship in organisational contexts.

Modes of Teaching, Learning and Assessment and how these contribute to the learning outcomes of the module

  • Learning outcomes are met through classroom-based workshops, supported by online resources. The workshops consist of a combination of taught input, groupwork, case studies and discussion. Online resources provide supplementary material for the workshops – typically consisting of directed reading and video content.
  • The formative assessment includes classroom-based exercises involving individual and group analyses of specific business situations/problems relevant to the learning outcomes of the module. Feedback will be given as appropriate.
  • The summative assessment is designed to test students' understanding of relevant concepts and their ability to apply what they have learned through critical analysis of a particular organisation, focusing on the role of the individual, the organisation and the entrepreneurial task environment. The emphasis throughout will be on integrating theory with practice.
