Teaching and Research Laboratory Technician nominated for prestigious award

Teaching and Research Laboratory Technician Ryan Ellison has been shortlisted as Best Newcomer for a national Papin Prize – awards which recognise the skills, talent and experience of technicians who have demonstrated excellence in their field, across the UK and Ireland.
Nominees have been selected from a broad range of universities, and categories include ‘outreach’, ‘research’, ‘teaching’, and ‘lifetime achievement’.
Ryan joined the department as a modern apprentice and has worked in almost every area of the Physics department. The Newcomer award category applies to 'an individual who has embarked on a technical career within the past 4 years and shown exceptional promise'.
The winners will be announced at the Higher Education Technicians Summit (HETS) 2017, which is hosted by the Midlands Innovation Universities - in partnership with the Science Council – at the University of Warwick on 31 May 2017. Good luck Ryan!
