Technical Services activities in the Physics Department are supported by a range of specialist teams, within which around 20 skilled technicians are embedded. The Technical Services and Facilities Manager, Mr Wayne Dobby is responsible for the management of these services.
The services are to be used under the guidelines set out in the Technical Services Policy Document which clarifies the roles of the services, and provides a “user agreement” which should be adhered to by all staff and students using the services.
All job requests (with the exception of Teaching Technical Services during term time) must be entered to the Physics Database in the “Technical Support Bookings Section”, found under “Departmental Facilities” on the front page of the Database.
Technical Services and Facilities Manager
With overall responsibility for all Technical Services divisions and facilities within the department, Wayne works in co-operation with the Director of Facilities to deliver the strategic management of a large technical support team and the management and development of all facilities housed within.
Safety Coordinator and Deputy TSFM
Supports the Head of Department in fulfilling their health and safety responsibilities by the provision of advice and guidance to staff and students in health and safety matters; to assist in the local implementation of University health and safety policy and standards, to monitor standards, to promote health and safety throughout the department and liaise with the Director of Health and Safety Services and his staff.
