What we do

Mechanical Engineering Services (MES) provide a professional and efficient design and manufacturing service for teaching and research within the Department of Physics. We will design and construct equipment for teaching, research and support areas within the Physics Department. We can provide a contract service for those departments within the University, who do not have access to the skills and equipment we can provide. MES have a number of CNC and conventional machines, welding and soldering equipment and computer facilities to support teaching and research within the Physics Department. |
Leadership
Mechanical Engineering Services is managed by Mr S Lishman (MES Supervisor) and is supported by six MES technicians Mr A Davies, Mr M Robertshaw, Mr LJ Bainbridge, Mr A Crosby , Mr K Ring and Mr R Borthwick. Staff are experienced in using CAD drawing packages and CNC machines.

- We provide general advice and guidance on mechanics and mechanical theory and best working practices, including relevant safety issues.

Technical Services and Facilities Manager

With overall responsibility for all Technical Services divisions and facilities within the department, Wayne works in co-operation with the Director of Facilities to deliver the strategic management of a large technical support team and the management and development of all facilities housed within.
