Meet our two new Heads of College
(9 March 2021)
We are pleased to confirm that we have successfully appointed two new Heads of College, to join our community of extraordinary people.
They will have responsibility for leading their respective Colleges to provide student enrichment, challenge and inspiration, generate a sense of belonging and community as well as providing support and wider wellbeing for students.
Following an extensive external search and recruitment process, we have appointed the following outstanding candidates:
Professor Tammi Walker - Principal of St Cuthbert’s Society and Professor of Forensic Psychology
Tammi is currently Professor of Psychology at Teesside University, where she is also Director for the Centre for Applied Psychological Science. She has extensive leadership experience in academia and the public sector. Her research focuses on behaviour in NHS secure care and prisons, including maximum security prisons for sexual and violent offenders.
Professor Tom Mole – Principal of Van Mildert College and Professor of English Literature and Book History
Tom is currently Professor of English Literature and Book History at the University of Edinburgh. He is also Director of the Centre for the History of the Book, where he is responsible for the strategic direction of this leading research centre. Tom’s research interests lie in the history of celebrity, book history, reception history and Romantic and Victorian literature, especially Lord Byron.
As Heads of College, both Tammi and Tom will provide leadership and direction to members of the College community and will be responsible for its student enrichment programmes and wellbeing agenda.
They will both take up their new roles in September 2021 and we look forward to welcoming them to Durham.
